Team Speed Up’s Spanish rookie, Augusto Fernández, started the first day of free practices for Moto2 at Assen learning the circuit of “the cathedral of speed” as much as he could.

In the afternoon, he improved his lap time by almost a second, a sign of confidence that the Spanish rider is gaining with the bike and the category.

“It was a tough day, very difficult to me. The track is complicated and I have found some difficulties, especially in the last part of the track. I managed to improve a few tenths in the afternoon, but if we want a good grid position we have to work a lot before the qualifying. I have to improve my ride and with the right way I can reduce the gap from the first. The only thing to do is keep working as we are already doing.”
