Augusto lines up 22nd on Assen grid
The qualifying session was held today at Assen to define the starting grid for the Moto2 race which will be held tomorrow, Sunday 25th June, at 2.30 pm.
Unfortunately, bad weather affected the last free session in the morning. The constant rain did not allow riders to improve their lap time. However, in the afternoon, there was a change of tyres five minutes after the start of qualifying when the “slick” replaced the “rain” to run on the track that almost completely dried in a few minutes.
Augusto Fernández will start from the eighth row in twenty-second position. The Spanish rookie has demonstrated clear progress in the qualifying session, despite a crash at the beginning of FP3.
AUGUSTO FERNANDEZ #37 – 22nd in 1’39.958
“After the start of this GP where it seemed to go all wrong, we finally managed to improve and make a good qualifying session. Fortunately, I did not lose confidence after this morning’s crash. When I got back on the bike for the qualifying, I immediately noticed that the track was drying. With the “slick” I felt immediately at ease and I could manage to improve and reduce the gap by eight tenth. My goal for tomorrow is the points area. I will do my best!”
