The Speed Up Racing Team is in Motegi for the Grand Prix of Japan, the fourth from last Moto2 2017 World Championship event, and the first of the three extra-European season-long consecutive races, which will continue over the coming weekends with two more rounds in Australia and Malaysia.

On the first day of practice, both sessions were affected by the uncompromising rain that forced riders to fight with very tricky track conditions. Augusto Fernandez, after the initial approach of the morning for the first time with the Japanese track, managed to improve his time in the second session, finishing 24th (2’07.953) although he crashed in both sessions.

“It was a tough first day, with a new track for me in no easy condition! I crashed twice, in FP1 and in FP2, but I’m still happy with the growing feeling. It is a pity for the crashes that have taken away valuable time to improve more. We will see tomorrow as the track conditions will be and, as always, we will work hard during the FP3 to get ready for the qualifying session”.
