As a confirmed Pons HP 40 rider for the rest of the season already, Augusto Fernández set to work today on the eighth Moto2 World Championship round that takes place at Assen TT circuit this weekend, also called ‘The Cathedral’.
After his debut with the team in Montmeló, Augusto came back to the box to start to adjust the Kalex to the Dutch track during the first free practice.
Even though he had some problems with the set-up, the feelings improved in the afternoon as he felt more comfortable and used to the bike and circuit. He ended the day in the seventeenth position with a fastest lap time of 1:38.871 and the goal of keep making steps forward tomorrow.
Augusto will be back on track tomorrow morning at 10:55 to complete the last free practice, and again at 15:05 for the qualifying practice, where he’ll fight to get the best position for Sunday race starting grid.
Augusto Fernández #40 – 17th, 1:38.871 (+0.780)
“This morning it was hard for us to find the rhythm of the class when we were on track to work on the new Kalex set up. In the afternoon we made some improvements and I felt more comfortable on the bike, improving the line, and now we have things more clearly. I’m 0.8 seconds back from the first, but I’m starting to feel comfortable and I’m sure tomorrow we’ll keep making steps forward”.
