Augusto Fernández takes 12th place at Assen and equals his best World Championship result
Two races with the Pons HP 40 team have been enough for Augusto to equal his best Moto2 World Championship result, a twelfth place taken at Malaysian GP last season.
This time he took it at Dutch GP race at TT Circuit Assen, after a comeback from sixteenth on the grid to cross the finish line in the twelfth place.
Even though his start wasn’t good, Augusto knew he had the rhythm to fight for the points zone and even finish at top 10. Unfortunately, that wasn’t possible, but anyway he was able to score 4 points, so it was a positive race after all, as he continued to gain confidence with his new bike and close the gap to the fastest riders of the class.
After the Dutch GP, the next World Championship race will take place on 13th, 14th and 15th July at Sachsenring circuit.

“I’m happy with today’s race because we scored some points and we got close to the Top 10 goal, but at the same time we still need to improve the start. My start wasn’t good at all and in the first corner some riders overtook me, and I lost a lot a positions. That moment is when I also lost the chance to be in the group with the ten first riders, but as I said, I’m happy because I scored again and we keep taking steps forward”.
