Augusto Fernández lines up ninth on the grid in Buriram
The Saturday timed practice and Qualifying sessions in Thailand, run under the intense heat and humidity, were very positive for the Pons HP 40 squad.
It was a very good day for Augusto Fernández. The Spanish rider has continued on the same steady trajectory of progress all weekend and today stopped the clock in 1: 36.661 which gives him ninth position on the starting grid.
Augusto Fernández, 9th, 1: 36,661 (+0.287)
“I am happy because we have done a good job, not only today but the whole weekend. With Balda we have made a good strategy and it has gone well: he took pole and I got ninth, my best result in a Qualifying. While it is true that I expected something more I’m happy nonetheless. I see myself even stronger in overall race pace than in a lap, so tomorrow it would be good to be in the top positions.”
