Augusto Fernández third fastest on the first day of the Japanese Grand Prix
The Japanese Grand Prix started with an intermittent rain that has not stopped during the whole day, leaving the Twin Ring Motegi track in very difficult conditions.
In the morning Augusto Fernández wanted to go out on track with the intention of starting to prepare the correct set-up of his Kalex, but could hardly do more than 5 laps due to the rain, without being able to mark any interesting record.
In the afternoon, at the beginning of the session Augusto was able to use the slick tyre and mark a more competitive record, stopping the clock at 1: 52.390, which ends his day in third position, despite the special conditions.
Augusto Fernández, 3rd, 1: 52.390 (+0.231)
“First day a bit strange at Motegi, we could do a few laps in the morning, and the truth is that I wanted to ride on this circuit since last year in the wet I could not do just dry laps and it’s practically new for me , so I need to go around and in the afternoon we put the slick tire at the start, the track being a bit dry and we took advantage of it, setting the third fastest time, it’s a good start and we hope that tomorrow we will be respected a little more time and we can work well.”
