Augusto Fernández among the fastest in the Jerez test
After the Valencia Grand Prix, which marked the end of the 2018 season, the Moto2 riders have premiered the 2019 pre-season with three days of testing at the Circuito de Jerez, a session marked by changeable weather conditions.
These test days have served to see the debut of the new Pons HP 40 motorcycle: the Kalex 2019 equipped with the new 765cc Triumph engine, and both Augusto Fernández and teammate Lorenzo Baldassarri are very happy with this first contact.
It was certainly a very good test for Augusto Fernández. The Spanish rider has been excellent with the new bike and has had a lot of fun on it. Augusto has placed inside the top 10 in all kinds of conditions on track and his best lap of 1: 42.264 sees him end the testing at Jerez in eighth position, very satisfied with the work he has done with his technical team.
With this test, the Pons HP 40 squad concludes the season and will return to the track action next February.
Augusto Fernández, 8th, 1: 42.264 (+0.740)
“Three very positive days for me and for the team, the new bike I liked a lot, it has more power and that is especially noticeable in the acceleration, in general the three days have gone well, both dry and wet. I’ve been competitive and fast and I’m looking forward to getting back into the test in February, I want to thank the team and sponsors for this year 2018 and now it’s a well-deserved break to get stronger in 2019.”
