Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS continued its unrivalled domination of the Teruel Grand Prix today with Sam Lowes riding to another record-breaking pole position and Augusto Fernandez set to launch his challenge in tomorrow’s 21-lap race from row three.

Warm and windless conditions enabled Lowes to completely dominate the second day of action at Motorland Aragon after he topped the timesheets in both FP3 and then Q2 to record his 11th career pole position in Moto2.

Augusto dedicated the majority of his time this morning on improving his race pace on Dunlop’s new soft compound rear tyre and he eased into Q2 with a lap of 1’51.967 that placed him sixth on the combined Free Practice standings.

Fernandez improved again in Q2 and in an incredibly close 15-minute session the 23-year-old’s best time of 1:51’839 was only just over 0.1s away from the front row.

“I’m happy with the work we have done today and it is a bit of a shame about my starting position because we are so close to the front row. It is crazy how close the lap times are, but I have shown I’m competitive with a better pace from last week. I’m starting in the same position as last weekend, but I feel much stronger and closer to the front. We have to analyse the data closely tonight to find a bit more pace for the race but thanks to my team and I’m really looking forward to a strong race tomorrow.”
