Red Bull KTM Ajo continue their intense schedule for April and, after a short break, arrive in Portimao for the Portuguese Grand Prix. The Autodromo Internacional do Algarve will host the first European round of the 2022 season for the Moto2 World Championship. Augusto Fernandez and teammate Pedro Acosta come into the event anxious to achieve a good result for the team.

At the Americas Grand Prix, Augusto finished in ninth place, overcoming a tricky start to the race. The Red Bull KTM Ajo talent was one of the riders with the fastest pace during the weekend, placing at the top front in almost every practice session. Now the Spaniard arrives in Portimao, wanting to carry that good form into the contest and achieve a good result on Sunday. Augusto currently occupies the eighth position in the Moto2 World Championship, with 31 points.

The Moto2 Portuguese Grand Prix is scheduled for 23 laps on Sunday at 2:30 PM, local time, as the last race of the day. Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto2 have previous podiums at the track, through victories achieved by Raul Fernandez and Remy Gardner in 2021 and further two podium places for the pair.

“I can’t wait to get the European leg of the season started, at circuits where I have more experience. Portimao is a circuit that I like and that during testing we did very well. We usually have a good pace there. I hope to be able to pick up from where we left off in pre-season. The objective for this weekend will be to be competitive, as we have been, and to be able to carry over all the work from the weekend into the race.”
