The Red Bull KTM Ajo riders participated in qualifying for the Aragon Grand Prix this Saturday, amidst high temperatures. Augusto Fernandez achieved pole position, whilst teammate Pedro Acosta took a step forward and will start from the second row of the grid.

The third and final Free Practice session of the weekend took place with favourable track conditions. The current Moto2 World Championship leader occupied spots in the Top5 on the opening laps, and focused on finding the best setup ahead of qualifying. His 1:52.267 lap, from his 13th attempt of 17, earned him second position on the combined timesheets.

In Q2, Augusto maintained a good pace, riding consistent lap times in a tight session. His 1:51.888 lap, clocked on his fifth lap of seven, earned him pole position at MotorLand, his second pole of the season and his seventh front row start.

The 21-lap Moto2 Aragon Grand Prix will take place on Sunday at 12:20 PM local time.

“It’s a tricky track, with a very technical layout, so it’s very positive for us to start from pole position. Saturdays are always a little harder for me, so we have to be very happy. We’ll have to manage the race well in order to fight for victory, but we have the pace and we feel strong enough to challenge. The last few laps will be important, so we will go for it.”
