Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto2 took on qualifying for the Thailand Grand Prix this Saturday, and both riders went directly into Q2. Augusto Fernandez worked hard and will start from eighth, on the third row.

FP3 was held in the dry, with conditions that were very different from Friday but favourable for setting a good lap time. Augusto worked hard to get a good feeling, although he had to fight to stay in the Top 10. He improved his times to finish FP3 in tenth place, with a 1:36.326 on his 15th attempt of 19.

In Q2, high temperatures forced riders to give their all from start to finish. Augusto worked to set a good lap and find a strong pace ahead of Sunday’s race. With a total of eight laps completed, he clocked the eighth fastest time, with a 1:36.130, putting him on the third row.

The 24-lap Moto2 race of the Thailand Grand Prix will take place on Sunday at 1:20 PM local time.

“I’m happy with qualifying after how we did in FP3. It was a matter of finding a good lap, although it’s a bit more difficult for me in terms of acceleration. Starting from the third row is good, especially because we have a decent race pace and I feel strong. The race will be long and very physical if it’s dry, but I have a good feeling and I think we can get a good result. I’ll try to get to the front as soon as possible and fight to take as many points as possible.”
