Front row of the Valencia grid for Augusto in Championship showdown

The Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto2 duo continue to prove that they are two of the rivals to beat this weekend. After being the best riders in the combined free practice qualifying, Augusto Fernandez and teammate Acosta maintained a high pace in the qualifying session, which allowed Augusto to finish in third position.

Moto2 FP3 followed the same line as the previous day. Augusto continued his work and improved his feeling ahead of the qualifying sessions. After even leading the combined free practice classification, he improved his lap times lap after lap. With a time of 1:34.658, set on lap 16/20, he was second.

With both riders qualifying directly for Q2, the qualifying sessions for the Valencia Grand Prix got underway in the afternoon. The Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto2 duo set a high pace from start to finish, taking the top positions in qualifying. After an intense end to the session, Augusto was very consistent from start to finish, setting the third fastest time with a 1:34.481.

The Moto2 race at the Valencia Grand Prix will start at 12:20 PM local time and will be run over 25 laps.


“Our objective was to get to the front row and we did it. I feel very strong and we are working on having a good pace for tomorrow. I am confident and feel very strong. I feel able to control the situation and to be able to fight for the victory. It’s important to be up with the riders at the front and I think we can do it.”
