FIRST STEPS IN MOTOGP

GASGAS Factory Racing and Augusto Fernández felt the adrenaline of speed for the first time in the MotoGP premier class at the Portuguese Grand Prix.

The Spanish rider got 13th position in the first round of twenty-one riders who took the start.

Twenty-four hours after Augusto Fernández qualified in 19th position and was then eliminated from the first MotoGP Sprint due to bad luck on the reconnaissance lap, the Moto2 World Champion of 2022 finally in the race he managed to enter the points after 22 laps. Fernández had a nice fight with Franco Morbidelli, and above all he learned about the behavior of Michelin tires, and added hours of flight in this new category for him, ahead of the next test at Termas de Río Hondo in Argentina.

Augusto Fernández:

“I’m happy. It’s nice to finally have a MotoGP racing experience! I was really looking forward to today. I struggled a bit at the beginning, but my pace was very good towards the end. I still have a lot to learn and managing the full distance of the race is one of those areas, but I am pleased with this start.”
