GASGAS completes the first test plan before its debut at the Portuguese Grand Prix, debuting its new red clothing.
This second test allowed two days of concentration in Portugal. The team continued to shape the basic configuration of the GASGAS RC16, ahead of the Portuguese Grand Prix, the first round of the 2023 World Championship.
In the Sunday session Pol Espargaró recorded the 18th fastest time. The first 18 drivers were within a single second of each other.
In the last test at the Portimao Circuit, Augusto Fernández experienced a race simulation and was encouraged to feel even more potential from the GASGAS RC16 package. He was in 22nd place, less than seven tenths of a second behind his teammate and just 1.7 seconds off the best time of the day
Augusto Fernández, commented:
“We have had a good morning, taking important steps with the bike. I did a mock race and I was happy because I was able to understand the bike more and how it feels in those conditions, it was positive. The afternoon was not very productive, I still have to work on my time trial to get the most out of this new soft tyre. We’ll see what we can do at the Portuguese Grand Prix!”.
